Are Varilux S varifocal lenses any good?

The optician I've just been to see at Boots is telling me that I should get these lenses as my next varifocal. He said it would be an ideal upgrade if I want to see more around the edges. The only problem is the £500 price tag they come with. Can anyone recommend these lenses and do they really work that well? I just don't want to throw money down the drain if they are not going to be an improvement on my current varilux comfort lenses.

I've been wearing mine for around 4 months and they a way better than my last Specsavers pair. I hardly wore my old pair as they gave me a headache due to the constant moving of my head to get things into focus. The varilux S series lens doesn't give me that sick feeling when I wear them. Everything is so much clearer and I can wear them all day. Sometimes it actually feels like I'm just wearing a distance pair of glasses but can read through them. Money well spent in my opinion.

The Varilux S series of lenses are probably the most ground-breaking and innovative varifocals to hit the optical market in over 15 years. The sense of natural vision you get through them is second to none. The reason why opticians have fallen in love with them is that it almost guarantees that patients will adjust to them almost immediately. Seriously, they are worth every penny.
