Anyone know an online opticians that sells Zeiss varifocal glasses? I have chipped one of my lenses and need just one replaced but I'm hoping to get it done online so I don't have to pay out too much. Any experiences anyone?

My Father used them a few months ago to replace the lenses in his frame and they were extremely cheap compared to the Opticians down the road. Of course I had to do it online for him as he doesn't like using the interweb, as he calls it!

Boots Opticians sell Zeiss lenses which is where i normally buy them from, bit expensive mind you, I paid nearly five hundred pounds for my last pair (gulp). I suppose with more online retailers selling them I should look into buying them online. How does it work though, do you have to buy the lenses and then take them to the opticians to be fitted?

Has anyone bought glass varifocals from Zeiss, do they still make them? I want the ones that react with the light, it seems thatall the high street shops don't sell them anymore.

I had a pair of glass Zeiss lenses in my very old pair of varifocals but when I recently went to my optician he told me that they have stopped making these in glasses and plastic is the only option, something to do with manufacturing costs of glasses lenses.

grainger, you must still be living in the 20th century, no one wears glasses lenses anymore and hardly anyone actually makes them. Why have glasses lenses when they are heavy and can shatter, if you had a fall, leaving shards of glasses sticking into your eye??!!!

Sorry Grainger, I wasn't gaving a dig. I was just staing that it is very uncommon for poeple to request glass lenses these days.
